Dramatic tenor, Joseph Spratt comes from Harrogate, in the North of England. He graduated with a BMus (Hons) 1st class degree from the Royal Northern College of Music, in 2016, and began studying operatic singing at the relatively late age of twenty-one. In these early years, Joseph developed a fantastic working relationship with Martin Binks OBE, head of the Leeds Symphony Orchestra, with whom he performed works including Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, Verdi's requiem and scenes from "La Boheme", in the Leeds Town Hall, and the Victoria Hall in Shipley. During these early years, he also performed in full productions of Rinuccio in "Gianni Schicchi", with the Harrow Opera Company, Macduff in Verdi's, "Macbetto" with the Leeds Youth Opera, Alfred in Strauss's "Die Fledermaus" with the Berlin Opera Academy, and created the title role of Barry Webb's "John of Nepomuk", performed in Waterloo. He also performed in solo oratorio concerts around the United Kingdom.

After these formative years, Joseph underwent a technique and repertoire change and has since learnt the roles of Calaf, Radames and he performed his debut Canio in November 2024, and Mario Cavaradossi in August 2025 with the "Pag & Cav" opera company in St. Michael's church, in Staines.

Joseph's current singing work sees him spend a majority of his time in Lucca, where he sings primarily with the "Puccini e La Sua Lucca festival", year round. He has upcoming performances in Lucca, Firenze and Parma. He has been working with and continues to enjoy a close collaboration with "The Old School of Singing", headed by Giancarlo Monsalve, since 2023.
